Instead of the expected posts about upcoming battles and championship hype, the account was sharing posts promoting new Pokémon-themed   NFTs . The posts claimed that The Pokémon Company was launching an official memecoin and encouraged followers to buy in quickly ahead of a major announcement. The posts were quickly deleted , but not before they were seen and shared by thousands of users. The Pokemon Company later confirmed that its social media had been temporarily compromised. In a follow-up statement posted after regaining control of the account , the company clarified that it has no affiliation with any digital currency, memecoin, or blockchain project, and that any posts promoting such a token were unauthorized and fake .
